Officers then asked the man – later identified as Richard Courtney – to exit the vehicle and searched him.

According to police, Richard Courtney, 37, is a resident of Mountfort Street in Boston.

“On his person officers located five folded up pieces of tinfoil with burn marks across it along with a clear plastic baggy with light purple residue,” Officer Bartosik said. “When searching his vehicle, officers located three Bic pens that had the top cut off to make them hollow, that were burnt.”

In total, Courtney was found to be in possession of 7.2 grams of fentanyl, according to police.

Courtney was charged with:

  • Possess Class A Drug

Courtney was arraigned in Westborough District Court on March 24, 2025. During his arraignment, the judge placed him on six months of pretrial probation with the requirement that he attend two Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous meetings a month. He was released on personal recognizance.

Courtney’s next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 23, 2025, the day his pretrial probationary period ends.
