STERLING — A 34-year-old Sterling man was arrested at his workplace Wednesday evening and charged with multiple child pornography offenses following a joint investigation with the Massachusetts State Police Cyber Crime Unit, according to Sterling Police Chief Sean Gaudette.
In a press release issued on May 29, 2025, the Sterling Police Department said it was contacted on April 11 by the Massachusetts State Police Cyber Crime Unit/Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force regarding a CyberTip involving the online dissemination of child sexual abuse material.
The department conducted a month-long investigation that led to the arrest of Sterling resident Kyle Litchwell at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at his place of employment.
Litchwell was charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of distributing material depicting a child engaged in a sexual act.
Officer Andrew Dipietro, the department’s representative on the ICAC Task Force, led the investigation. According to Gaudette, Dipietro also executed the arrest and search warrant with support from fellow officers, supervisors, and detectives.
“In fear of leaving any names out, I’ll say that a majority of the department participated in some way,” Gaudette stated in the release. Later adding, “As Chief of Police, I’m very proud of how everyone worked together for a very successful conclusion in this matter.”
Further inquiries about the case are being directed to the office of Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr., Sterling police said.
