Grafton firefighters respond to two-car crash on Mass Pike near Millbury

GRAFTON — Last night, Engine 2 and the Rescue unit of the Grafton Fire Department were dispatched to the Massachusetts Turnpike eastbound at mile marker 97 for a two-vehicle accident.

Mile marker 97 is located just east of Millbury in Worcester County.

Upon arrival, crews found one car completely off the roadway, according to a statement from the Grafton Fire Department.

  • A car with significant rear-end damage and deployed airbags sits on the side of the road at night, illuminated by emergency lights.
  • A damaged white vehicle being hoisted from a wooded area beside the Massachusetts Turnpike at night, with airbags deployed and vegetation entangled around the vehicle.

Using specialized hoisting equipment, firefighters removed the disabled vehicle from a wooded area beyond the guardrail. The other vehicle remained on the roadway, but was seriously damaged.

One person sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.
