WINCHENDON โ On Friday, May 16, 2025, at approximately 6:48 p.m., Officer Justin Smith of the Winchendon Police Department responded to an apartment on School Street after a woman called 911 to report that her ex-boyfriend, Jeremy Rosado, was refusing to leave.

โ[The reporting partyโs] first call was an open line 911 call which ended abruptly, but on call back, [she] made the report,โ Officer Smith said.
Sergeant Raymond Anair, Officer James Wironen, and Officer Daniel Caputi also responded to the scene.
Officer Smith stated that all officers were aware Rosado had at least four active warrants out for his arrest.
โOn arrival, Sgt. Anair and Officer Caputi knocked on the door to [the reporting party’s] residence on the left side of 156 School Street, Apartment [X],โ Officer Smith said. โOfficer Wironen and I remained outside along the right side of the residence, where I heard a series of loud stomps consistent with someone running up stairs on the other side of the wall I was standing near.โ
Officer Smith said that Sgt. Anair and Officer Caputi were led inside the apartment by the reporting party, who stated that Rosado had just gone in the direction of the stairwell.
According to police, Jeremy Rosado, 37, is a resident of 156 School Street, Winchendon, MA.

โSgt. Anair and Officer Caputi made their way to the stairwell (a common area leading to doors for apartments 1, 2, and 3), where Jeremy emerged from one of the upstairs apartments and started walking down the stairs,โ Officer Smith said. โOnce at the bottom of the stairs, Sgt. Anair told Jeremy he was under arrest for the outstanding warrants.โ
Officer Smith said Rosado was then handcuffed, brought outside through the front door, secured in Officer Caputiโs cruiser, and transported to the station for booking.
โAt this time, I walked in to Apt. [X] where I met with [Rosadoโs ex-girlfriend] in the kitchen,โ Officer Smith said. โ[She] advised me there was a gun in the washing machine a few feet from us, which she said Jeremy had. [She] wฤ s visibly distraught and started crying when I started asking her what happened. [Rosadoโs ex-girlfriend] would remain in this state for the majority of my investigation. [She] told me, โHe said he was gonna shoot me,โ then Jeremy, โpointed it at his face.โ [She] alleged Jeremy told her he was going to shoot her then shoot himself while he was holding the gun, but never pointed the gun at her.โ
Officer Smith said he opened the washing machine lid and found a Glock 23 pistolโchambered in .40 Smith & Wessonโwith a black slide and a purple frame.
โI photographed the Glock in the washing machine then secured it in an evidence bag,โ Officer Smith said.
Officer Smith said the Glock did not contain a magazine and there was no round in the chamber. He stated that Rosadoโs ex-girlfriend informed him the magazine and ammunition were in the bedroom.
Rosadoโs ex-girlfriend told Officer Smith she took a video of Jeremy with the pistol.
โ[She] showed me a few seconds of the two-minute-long video she took of Jeremy, time stamped at 6:46 p.m. today (which I later learned was in between her two 911 calls: one at 6:44 p.m. and the other at 6:48 p.m.),โ Officer Smith said.
Officer Smith said that, in the video, Jeremy was seen wearing the same white t-shirt and blue shorts he had on at the time of his arrest and was holding the same Glock Officer Smith found in the washing machine.
Officer Smith said thatโin the videoโRosado threatens to shoot himself and his ex-girlfriend, but after his ex-girlfriend convinced him that his daughter needed him, Rosado ejected a bullet from the chamber, placed the magazine on the bed, and handed her the pistol.
โI had [her] send the entire video to the department cell phone for me to review later,โ Officer Smith said.
Officer Smith said that Rosado’s ex-girlfriend initially tucked the pistol into the back of her waistband when Sgt. Anair and Officer Caputi went to apprehend Jeremy. She then moved it to the washing machine because she was unsure of Jeremyโs whereabouts. According to Officer Smith, this was when he entered the residence and began speaking with her, at which point she disclosed the location of the pistol almost immediately.
โThe quick disclosure of the pistol to me, the amount of vivid detail (and the video) [Rosadoโs ex-girlfriend] had of Jeremy’s actions, and her statement of hiding the pistol because she did not know where Jeremy was, suggested no criminal intent,โ Officer Smith said. โEven though [she] moved/hid the pistol and possessed it, albeit temporarily, satisfying the elements of tampering with evidence and all related firearm possession charges, they will not be sought despite her not having a MA [Massachusetts] License to Carry Firearms. I believe in combination with my aforementioned statements, [she] acted in self-preservation since Jeremy threatened to shoot her with a pistol she found out was loaded and wanted to hide it from him.โ
Officer Smith said that Rosado’s ex-girlfriend then led him to the bedroom, where he observed a magazine and a bulletโmatching the ones in the magazineโon the bed. He also noted a black/gray backpack nearby. The magazine, according to Officer Smith, was black with a 15-round capacity and contained 12 rounds visible through the rear viewing windows.
โI knew from personal experience the magazine was for a Glock firearm, and in fact, the magazine was stamped with the Glock logo and .40 to indicate the caliber,โ Officer Smith said.
Officer Smith said he photographed the magazine and ammunition and seized them as evidence.
โI asked [Rosadoโs ex-girlfriend] what started the incident prompting her call to police,โ Officer Smith said. โ[She] told me Jeremy was at the house for too long, she told him he needed to leave, he was not in a good mindset, and she did not want him around her.โ
Officer Smith said that Rosado’s ex-girlfriend told him Rosado refused to leave and became upset, which led to an argument during which he threw her phone twice.
โThe back of [Rosadoโs ex-girlfriendโs] Apple iPhone was smashed,โ Officer Smith said. โI asked [her] if Jeremy knew she was calling police before he took her phone and threw it, and she said, โYeah, I told him.โ [She] said the first time she called (6:44 p.m.), Jeremy thought she was lying, which prompted the first time he threw her phone. It was unclear when Jeremy threw [her] phone the second time.โ
After speaking with Rosado’s girlfriend, Officer Smith returned to the station. He said that during booking, Rosado pulled 10 packets of Suboxone (buprenorphine) from the left pocket of his shorts.
โBack at the station, I was able to review [Rosadoโs ex-girlfriendโs] video in full,โ Officer Smith said.
Officer Smith provided the following summary of events depicted in the video:
โ[Rosadoโs ex-girlfriend] is recording Jeremy in the bedroom โ wearing the same clothes as he was wearing when arrested โ and Jeremy walks towards [her] with his hands behind his back,โ Officer Smith said. โJeremy says to [her], โRemember what youโre doing,โ then swings his right arm around and brandishes the Glock pistol in his hand. Jeremy then turns around and tucks the pistol into his front waistband. When Jeremy turns again, he says he is, โholding my d*ckโ while holding his waistline with his left hand.โ
Officer Smith noted from personal experience that individuals who tuck pistols into their waistbands without a holsterโcommon among those without a firearms licenseโoften hold the weapon in place to prevent it from falling out due to its weight.
Officer Smith said that, in the video, Rosadoโs ex-girlfriend says Rosado will not leave her house, and Rosado replies, โItโs like that, bro?โ She then asks Rosado to โplease leave.โ
โJeremy says, โIf you call them [the police], I’m gonna kill myself right now,โ” Officer Smith said. โ[Rosadoโs ex-girlfriend] says 911 is already on the phone. Jeremy then sits on the bed with his back to [her]. Jeremy says, โThink I’m playing? If they…swear to God. Think I’m kidding?โ [She] again asks Jeremy to leave. Jeremy then โracksโ the pistol (where I could not hear a bullet hit the wood floor, indicating he just chambered one) and says again, โThink I’m kidding? I’m going to do it to myself right now, bro.โ Jeremy then brings the pistol up and holds it to his chin for a second.โ
Officer Smith said that โ in the video โ Rosado then says โcall themโ five times, while his ex-girlfriend pleads with him to leave. She then tells him to put the gun down.
โJeremy walks towards [his ex-girlfriend], no gun in hand, and [she] steps backwards,โ Officer Smith said. โJeremy says, โStop acting like that,โ and [his ex] replies, โYou just said you were gonna bust me, bro! Give me the gun.โ Jeremy says, โTake it,โ he retrieves the Glock pistol, and [his ex-girlfriend] tells him to unload it. Jeremy drops the magazine from the pistol onto the bed, ejects the bullet from the chamber, and gives the pistol to [his ex-girlfriend].
Officer Smith stated that when Rosadoโs ex-girlfriend put her phone down, Rosado said, โI would not do that to you,โ to which she replies, โ911 is already on their way,โ before the video ends.
In addition to the four warrants out of Winchendon District Court for failure to appear, Rosado was charged with the following (Officer Smithโs explanation for most of the charges are provided in quotations):
