The officer pulled the vehicle over in the area of 512 Boston Turnpike.

The driver was identified as Kenny Menendez and the officer said his right to operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth had currently been suspended. Another individual, Jason Rivera, was in the passenger seat.

“An inventory resulted in officers locating a freshly burnt pipe in between the front driver seat and center console where the seat belt would be located,” the Shrewsbury Police Department’s Statement of Facts said. “Mr. Menendez told officers that he had K2, a synthetic cannabis in his sock. This was then removed from his person.”

Menendez was arrested for the suspended license and since Rivera did not have an active Massachusetts Driver’s License, Lovey’s was called to the scene to tow the vehicle.

According to the Shrewsbury Police Department’s Statement of Facts, Rivera was detained, and officers later found on his person small knotted glassine baggies containing a rock-like substance identified as crack cocaine, along with an open knotted-off bag containing an off-gray substance identified as fentanyl.

Menendez was arrested and charged with the following:

  1. Operating Motor Vehicle with License Suspended
  2. Possess Class B Drug (crack pipe for crack cocaine)
  3. Possess Class C Drug (synthetic marijuana)
  4. Miscellaneous Motor Vehicle Equipment Violation
  5. Window Obstructed/Nontransparent

Rivera was arrested and charged with the following:

  1. Possession of a Class A Substance (fentanyl)
  2. Possession of a Class B Substance (crack cocaine)

Menendez’s bail was set at $200. He was arraigned in Westborough District Court on June 12, 2025. Menendez’s next court date is a pretrial hearing scheduled for July 7, 2025.

(Please note, Rivera’s bail, arraignment information, and subsequent court dates were not included in the FOIA request obtained by News Link Live for the incident.)
