REHOBOTH — Human remains believed to be those of 18-year-old Kylee Monteiro were discovered last week on property linked to her boyfriend, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
Monteiro, a recent Attleboro High School graduate who was about 11-12 weeks pregnant, was reported missing on Aug. 7 by her boyfriend, 22-year-old Gregory Groom, after the two allegedly had an argument, according to People Magazine. Investigators say she had last been seen at Groom’s County Street residence in Rehoboth before she went missing.

According to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn, Massachusetts State Police executed a search warrant at Groom’s home Tuesday afternoon. Construction equipment, including an excavator, was brought in as part of the search, and digging could be heard at the scene, according to videos posted on social media. On Tuesday evening, investigators located human remains consistent with Monteiro on the property.
Quinn said Groom will now face a murder charge. On Tuesday afternoon, Groom was arrested and charged in connection with an Aug. 6 incident in which police say he assaulted Monteiro. The charges at the time included aggravated assault and battery on a pregnant person, domestic assault and battery, and intimidation of a witness.
Groom was held without bail and is expected to be arraigned today in Taunton District Court.
