RUTLAND — On Thursday, May 1, 2025, at approximately 7:52 p.m., Officer Justin Lawlor of the Rutland Police Department was dispatched to 16 Hope Way following a report of a man in the roadway harassing a woman.

“Upon arrival, I met with Jessica [last name redacted], who explained that she was at 16 Hope Way to do her duties as a nurse for Norma [last name redacted], who resides at 16 Hope Way,” Officer Lawlor said. “When she parked in a nearby neighbor’s driveway that she has permission to park in, William McNamee of 10 Steven’s Way, came out of his house and approached her while still on his property.”

According to police, William L. McNamee, 59, is a resident of 10 Stevens Way, Rutland, MA.
“She explained that he took pictures of her vehicle and her registration plate, and when she asked him why he was photographing her vehicle, he began shouting profanities at her and then ‘started to walk aggressively’ towards her,” Officer Lawlor recounted. “She told him she was going to call the police, lifting the phone to her ear, and he returned to his front yard.”
Officer Lawlor stated that Norma and Robert [last name redacted] informed him McNamee had been shining a large spotlight into their windows between midnight and 2 a.m. over the past few nights, and said they were interested in seeking a harassment prevention order when the courts open.
Officer Lawlor issued a summons for McNamee to appear in East Brookfield District Court on the following charge:
