RUTLAND — On Friday, May 30, 2025, at around 12:57 p.m., Rutland Police Detective Cassandra DeSousa followed up on new information provided by a victim in an active harassment prevention order case pending in Cambridge District Court.

Detective DeSousa said Alexandra Kenney, a 25-year-old Rutland resident, informed her that she “was made aware” of a video publicly posted to YouTube by Laura Maurus on May 27, 2025.
According to Detective DeSousa, Kenney has an active harassment prevention order against Maurus, issued by Cambridge District Court and valid until November 28, 2025. DeSousa added that Kenney is also a witness in a separate criminal harassment case against Maurus in East Brookfield District Court, which was filed on February 11, 2025.
According to police, Laura Lapsley Maurus, 43, is a resident of Mount Vernon Street in Newport, Rhode Island.
Detective DeSousa noted there is no known connection between Maurus and Kenney, who is listed as a stranger to Kenney in the Rutland Police Department’s summons report for the incident.
Detective DeSousa stated that:
“On May 27, 2025, Ms. Maurus posted a video to her account under her name, ‘Laura Maurus’ with the username handle ‘@lauramarus8929.’ In the video, Ms. Maurus states:
‘…I don’t plan on showing up to that trial. I’m going to try and make this a world-wide scene…um, this is a fair warning…um, I do have team members in the last few years that have said quote ‘it’s Luigi season’. So, Alexandra, honey, you decide if you want to keep lying to the entire public about what you know about psychics and what was done to my children and I.’”

Detective DeSousa said that when she spoke with Kenney regarding the video, Kenney stated that she was placed in fear by the statement, “it’s Luigi season.”
“Ms. Kenney believed Ms. Maurus was referencing ‘Luigi Mangione,’ a suspect in the shooting and killing of the CEO of United Health care,” Det. DeSousa said. “A reasonable person in Ms. Kenney’s position as a witness would feel intimidated based on the history of Ms. Maurus’ escalating erratic behavior and her video(s) posted to her YouTube account.”
Detective DeSousa noted that the YouTube account under the name “Laura Maurus” (@lauramarus8929) contains approximately 150 videos dating back to May 2024, in which Maurus films herself speaking about Alexandra Kenney and other individuals.
In a YouTube video posted on May 26, 2025, titled None of them are Mediums. People and KIDS are DYING. PHARMAKIS and AUDETTE are pure EVIL, Maurus appears to display signs of significant psychological distress, including delusional, grandiose, and paranoid thoughts involving telepathy, government conspiracies, and high-profile figures. Referring to herself as a psychic – in the video – Maurus states, “My third eye was stabbed out and I’m a blackmailed victim of Epstein and Trump. This is all real. I’m telling you right now this is a warning. I’m not the threat, I’m the hero…Listen, I’m not going to Alexandra Kenney’s trial. If this gets pushed to trial June 17 everything’s going to change. I cannot tell you everything right now. I have a lot of people in the wings. If I end up in jail in the meantime people are going to come forward, and that’s all I can say.”
After speaking with Kenney, Detective DeSousa requested that the East Brookfield District Court issue an arrest warrant for Maurus for a charge of witness intimidation.
“Ms. Laura Maurus intentionally posted video(s) publicly on YouTube which directly intimidated Ms. Alexandra Kenney,” Det. DeSousa said. “Ms. Alexandra Kenney is a witness in a criminal proceeding against Ms. Laura Maurus.”
