Driver rescued after rollover crash sends car deep into Newburyport woods off I-95

NEWBURYPORT — A driver was hospitalized today after a single-vehicle rollover that sent a car deep into the woods off Interstate 95.

According to a statement from the Newburyport Fire Department, Engine 5, Engine 2 and Ladder 1 were dispatched “earlier this morning” to a report of a single vehicle rollover crash on I-95.

Crews arrived on scene to find the vehicle had left the roadway, rolled over deep in the woods, ultimately coming to rest upside-down against a tree atop a large rock embankment.

Firefighters worked to extricate the lone occupant before transferring the patient to Atlantic Ambulance for transport to Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

The extent of the driver’s injuries was not released.
