Worcester man indicted for murder of man found dead in Hubbardston woods

WORCESTER — A 32-year-old Worcester man has been indicted in connection with the death of a man found deceased in Hubbardston.

On June 25, 2025, Ryan Wilcox was indicted for murder by a Worcester County Grand Jury, according to a statement from Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.’s Office.

On July 7, 2025, Wilcox was arraigned in Worcester County Superior Court on one count of murder in connection with the death of Worcester resident Mitchell Burke. Following his arraignment, Wilcox was held without bail.

Shortly before 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, Hubbardston police were dispatched to a report of a body found in the woods off Brigham Street in Hubbardston. After discovering the body, Hubbardston police and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office then launched an investigation which led to the apprehension of Wilcox.

According to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, Wilcox was initially arraigned on Jan. 6, 2025, in Worcester Central District Court on the following charges: assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, assault with a dangerous weapon, and armed assault with intent to murder. Wilcox has been held without bail since that hearing.

Wilcox’s next court date is scheduled for Aug. 27, 2025, in Worcester County Superior Court.
