WEBSTER — On Monday, July 14, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Webster Police Officer Thomas Motyka was dispatched to the Price Chopper on Worcester Road following a report that a man had just stolen numerous items and fled on foot.
According to a statement from the Webster Police Department, the suspect was identified by a loss prevention associate as Hector Champagne, who had previously been trespassed from the grocery store for past shoplifting incidents.
Officer Motyka obtained a description of Champagne’s clothing and relayed it to the other officers working the shift at the time. While searching for him, Webster police learned that Champagne had four active warrants for his arrest.
“Officers were unable to locate Mr. Champagne in the immediate area. Officers proceeded to Mr. Champagne’s last known address and located him at an apartment,” the Webster Police Department said in its statement. “Mr. Champagne was then placed under arrest without incident after admitting to stealing the items.”
Hector Champagne, 29, of Negus Street, Webster, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Warrant (Dudley District Court): Trespass, Shoplifting
- Warrant (Dudley District Court): Vandalize Property
- Warrant (Dudley District Court): Larceny Under $1200, Trespass
- Warrant (Worcester District Court): Assault and Battery Dangerous Weapon, A&B Family/Household Member
- Shoplifting
- Trespassing
