WESTBOROUGH — A Westborough man was arrested today in connection with the sexual assault of a juvenile.
According to a statement from Westborough Police Chief Todd Minardi, Rigoberto M. Vasquez Mendoza, 33, of Westborough, was arrested following an investigation launched on Aug. 10, 2025, after the Lynn Police Department reported a sexual assault that allegedly occurred in Westborough on Aug. 8.
“Based on the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Mendoza on the charge of Aggravated Rape of a Child with a Ten-Year Age Difference,” Chief Minardi said.
On the evening of Aug. 12, Westborough detectives executed a search and arrest warrant at Mendoza’s residence but found it empty.
“Recognizing the urgency of the case, WPD [Westborough Police Department] partnered with the United States Marshals Service and the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS) to locate the suspect,” Chief Minardi said.
Two days later, on Aug. 14, Mendoza was located at a residence in Worcester. He was arrested without incident, booked at the Westborough Police Department, and arraigned in Westborough District Court.
His bail was set at $5,000.
