According to Officer Bartosik, the suspect, later identified as Amelia Raymond, 36, of North Quinsigamond Avenue in Allston, had concealed items she had stolen from the CVS in a black bag she had with her as well as in her clothing.
โAs she heard the sirens from the police response, the reporting party and witness stated she quickly put the items back on the shelf,โ Officer Bartosik said. โAs Ms. Raymond continued to attempt to walk away from officers, Ms. Raymond was detained for any items in her possession that were not placed back on the shelves at the business.โ
Officer Bartosik said that officers then searched Raymondโs bag that the reporting party said she was placing unpaid items into.
โOfficers later located drug paraphernalia including a burnt spoon with white powder residue and a burnt glass pipe that I identified to strictly be used to smoke illegal narcotics,โ Officer Bartosik said. โA further search of Ms. Raymonds property included a small crystal, rocklike substance that officers identified as crack cocaine (.68 grams).โ
Police also located a tied, knotted-off plastic baggie with 4.19 grams of cocaine in it as well as 1.07 grams of fentanyl in two separate knotted-off baggies.
Amelia Raymond was arrested and charged with the following:
- Possession Class A Drug
- Possession Class B Drug (two counts: one for crack, the other for cocaine)
- Possession of Class E Drug
- Shoplifting by Concealing Merchandise
Raymond was arraigned in Westborough District Court on July 7, 2025, where she pleaded not guilty. After her arraignment, she was released on personal recognizance under the condition that she remain drug/alcohol free and submit to random drug screens.
Raymondโs next court date was a pretrial hearing on Aug. 14, 2025, which was continued to Sept. 16, 2025.
