Pair found unresponsive in vehicle at West Boylston Cumberland Farms charged with drug possession

WEST BOYLSTON โ€” On Sunday, June 22, 2025, at approximately 4:26 a.m., Officer Paul Riley of the West Boylston Police Department was dispatched to the Cumberland Farms located at 184 West Boylston Street following a report of two unresponsive parties in a vehicle.

Sergeant Timothy Provencal and West Boylston Fire/EMS were also dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival, I observed a male in the front passenger seat of a gray Honda CRV bearing MA Reg. [# redacted], along with a female in the driver’s seat with the vehicle running,” Officer Riley said. “At this time, both parties were alert. but confused. The female party was identified as Miss Lauren Moran. The male party was identified as Mr. Cody Syria-Marino.”

According to police, Cody J. Syria-Marino, 29, resides in Clinton, MA; and Lauren R. Moran, 27, is also a resident of Clinton, MA.

“Both parties stated they fell asleep in the vehicle after being awake all day long,” Officer Riley said. “Both parties stated they had consumed drugs approximately 12 hours prior. Both parties were checked out and cleared by West Boylston EMS.”

Officer Riley said that – at this time – he took the keys out of the ignition and asked Moran to step out of the vehicle.

“Miss Moran had a piece of burnt aluminum foil stuck on her forehead. I observed several glass pipes with burnt residue on the drivers side floor and the center console,” Officer Riley said. “Based off my training and experience, this is commonly used for consuming elicit drugs such as crack-cocaine.”

At this time, Sergeant Provencal arrived on scene and asked Syrua-Marino to step out of the vehicle as well.

“Both parties were placed in handcuffs (DL) [double locked] and advised of their Miranda rights,” Officer Riley said. “Mr. Syria-Marino was placed into the rear of marked West Boylston Cruiser #6. At this time, Officer Haley Delahanty of Holden PD [Police Department] arrived on scene and searched Miss Moran. Miss Moran was placed into the rear of marked West Boylston Cruiser #2.”

During an inventory search of the vehicle, Officer Riley said burnt aluminum foil and a white crystallized substance was located on the center console.

“I asked Miss Moran what the white substance was on top of the center console and she stated, ‘I believe it is crack cocaine,'” Officer Riley said. “Kevin’s Auto arrived on scene and towed the vehicle after a complete inventory search of the vehicle was complete. Both parties were transported back to the station for booking. After booking was complete, Bail Clerk Chris Hart was notified. Both parties were released on personal recognizance.”

Lauren Moran was charged with the following:

  • Possess Class B Drug
  • Possess/Purchase to Distribute Drug Paraphernalia

Cory Syria-Marino was charged with the following:

  • Possess Class B Drug
  • Possess/Purchase to Distribute Drug Paraphernalia
