Driver charged in West Boylston after tailgating stop leads to license violation

WEST BOYLSTON โ€” On Sunday, June 15, 2025, around 9:43 p.m., Officer Cody Willman of the West Boylston Police Department was running stationary radar outside the Cumberland Farms on West Boylston Street when he spotted a vehicle tailgating another โ€” following less than a car length behind while traveling 40 miles per hour in a 40 zone.

โ€œThe vehicles were traveling in the northbound lane on West Boylston Street (Route 12),โ€ Officer Willman said. Later adding, โ€œI activated my cruiser’s emergency blue lights and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle, bearing MA Registration #1HWZ58, stopped in front of 67 West Boylston Street.โ€

Officer Willman approached the driver and explained the reason for the traffic stop.

โ€œI asked her for her license to which she replied she did not have one but that she has a permit,โ€ Officer Willman said. โ€œI then asked for her permit to which she stated she did not have it with her in the vehicle. I asked for her name and date of birth, which she gave. The operator was identified as Ms. Siarra Francis.โ€

According to police, Siarra D. Francis, 21, resides in Worcester, MA.

Officer Willman said that Francis has had a permit in the past but it expired on Oct. 31, 2021.

โ€œI asked Ms. Francis why she was operating without an active license. She stated there was no reason and that she was coming from a friend’s house. I asked Ms. Francis if she could have a valid license operator come and get her and her vehicle,โ€ Officer Willman said.

Francisโ€™ mother took custody of her daughterโ€™s vehicle.

Officer Willman issued Francis a criminal citation in hand for the following offense:

  • Unlicensed Operation of Motor Vehicle

Francisโ€™ arraignment was scheduled for June 16, 2025 in Clinton District Court.
