WEBSTER — On Friday, Aug, 15, 2025, at approximately 2:42 a.m., Officer Alex Johnson of the Webster Police Department was on patrol on Main Street when he noticed an Infinity Q50 with no front license plate.
According to a statement from the Webster Police Department, Officer Johnson conducted a query of the license plate through the RMV which indicated that the license plate was stolen.
Officer Johnson then notified the other on-duty officers as he followed the vehicle on East Main Street.
Officer Johnson attempted a traffic stop on Gore Road, but the driver fled, passed multiple vehicles, and entered I-395 North.
Officer Johnson pursued the vehicle on I-395 as the driver switched off the lights of his vehicle and accelerated to extremely high speeds, the Webster Police Department said in its statement. Officer Johnson lost sight of the car, and dispatch notified state, Oxford, and Auburn police. Several minutes later, Auburn police officers located the vehicle in their town and began a pursuit as it entered Worcester.
On I-290 eastbound, the driver allegedly slowed down and deliberately swerved at Auburn and state police cruisers, striking one of each before the vehicle became disabled.

A K-9 apprehended one suspect, identified as Samuel McCausland of Worcester, who had a key fob in his pocket. Auburn police took McCausland into custody and transported him to their station.
According to police, Samuel McCausland, 19, is a resident of Mill Street in Worcester, MA.
