Taunton police investigating shooting that left 24-year-old man critically injured

TAUNTON — On Thursday, Sept. 4, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Taunton police were notified by Morton Hospital that a patient had arrived with a gunshot wound.

According to a statement from Taunton’s Police Chief Edward Walsh, officers responded to the hospital and identified the victim as a 24-year-old man with life-threatening injuries. He was stabilized at Morton Hospital before being airlifted by medical helicopter to a nearby trauma center.

According to a preliminary investigation by Taunton police, the shooting took place at 11 Granite Street.

Investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident and not a random act of violence, based on information collected so far.

The incident remains under investigation by the Taunton Police Detective Division.
