Brockton woman arrested after climbing fire escape and kicking in ex-boyfriend’s door during custody dispute

TAUNTON — On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at approximately 8:53 p.m., Officers Joshua McCarthy and Rudy Andrade of the Taunton Police Department were dispatched to an apartment at 5 Creedway Street following a report from a resident who said his bedroom door had been kicked in.

“The calling party stated an individual kicked his bedroom door, trying to take his daughter,” Officer McCarthy said. “The calling party also advised dispatch this was a custody dispute.”

When the officers arrived on scene, they entered the apartment building and made their way to the third floor.

“When I knocked on apartment [# redacted], a male party had opened the door,” Officer McCarthy said. “The male party was identified as [29-year-old] Brian [last name redacted]. Officer Andrade brought Brian downstairs, and I stayed with the female upstairs. The female party was identified as Deborah Senat.”

According to police, Deborah Senat, 24, is a resident of Brockton, MA.

“I asked Deborah what happened, Deborah stated that Brian was kidnapping his daughter,” Officer McCarthy said. “According to Deborah, Brian has had their daughter since Friday due to Deborah helping her sister at the hospital give birth.”

Senat told Officer McCarthy that Brian had expressed concern about her having random people at her house.

“I asked Deborah where she lived; Deborah stated that she lived in Brockton. Deborah stated to officers that she and Brian have been dating on and off,” Officer McCarthy said. “All Deborah wanted to do was to pick up [her daughter] and leave for the night.”

At this time, Officer McCarthy went and spoke with Brian.

Brian told Officer McCarthy that someone had buzzed Senat into the residence.

“When Brian wouldn’t answer the door, Deborah had left,” Officer McCarthy said. “While Brian was in [his daughter’s] bedroom getting her ready for bed, he heard someone kicking the door three times. After the third time, there was a pause followed by one more hard kick, and the door to the outside flew open. This was when Deborah had walked inside the apartment asking for [her daughter].”

Brian said the only way Senat could have gained access to the door would be by climbing up the fire escape.

“I asked Brian if I could take a look at the door. The deadbolt to the door was completely detached from the frame which caused the frame to split,” Officer McCarthy said. “I also observed that the door at the top of the fire escape was unlocked as well. When I asked Brian how they had been separated, Brian stated a year and a half. When I came back downstairs, Brian was speaking with Officer Andrade. Officer Andrade and I advised Brian on the process to obtain a 209A [abuse prevention order] and how to go about going to court for the ongoing child custody issue.”

Brian told the officers that he did not want his daughter to go with Senat for the night and that he wanted to press charges.

“As a result, while Deborah was sitting outside on the front steps, we asked her to give [her daughter] to Brian,” Officer McCarthy said. “We also explained to Deborah that she would be taken into custody. Deborah was placed into handcuffs, firm to the skin, not to impede circulation, and double locked.”

Senat was then placed in the back of a cruiser.

“Officer Andrade then transported Deborah to Taunton Police Headquarters for booking,” Officer McCarthy said. “When I returned to Taunton Police Headquarters, I called DCF to file a 51A.”  (A 51A form is a mandatory report that professionals in Massachusetts, who work with children, must file with the DCF when they suspect that a child is being abused, neglected, or both).

Deborah Senat was charged with the following:

  • Breaking & Entering Nighttime for Felony
  • Malicious Destruction of Property -$1,200

Senat’s arraignment was scheduled for June 18, 2025 in Taunton District Court.
