BOSTON — National Braille Press will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its annual gala, A Million Laughs for Literacy, on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., at Fenway Park’s 521 Overlook.
Launched in 2005, the event combines comedy and community to raise funds for braille books and literacy programs for blind and low-vision children and adults, the National Braille Press said in a statement.
This year’s gala is co-chaired by Tom Sullivan, Mitch Rosen, and Ted and Kathy Truscott. Sullivan, founder of Lumber Liquidators and Cabinets to Go, has led the event since its inception.

“A Million Laughs for Literacy is still going strong after 20 years thanks to our dedicated co-chairs, Tom Sullivan, Mitch Rosen and Ted and Kathy Truscott,’” said Brian Mac Donald, NBP President and CEO. Later adding, “The funds raised will go towards producing vital braille materials for blind, low-vision children, and adults, giving them the same access to materials as sighted people.”
Headlining the evening this year is comedian Demetri Martin, known for his witty, music-infused humor and appearances on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Late Night with Conan O’Brien. His latest Netflix special, Demetri Deconstructed (2024), offers a fresh and introspective take on comedy.

The event will also feature singer Lavender Darcangelo of Fitchburg, a blind and autistic performer who rose to national fame as a finalist on America’s Got Talent in 2023.
