Car bursts into flames after crashing into pond near Shrewsbury Price Chopper

SHREWSBURY — At about 10:20 p.m. last night, Shrewsbury Fire Department Engine 3 and Rescue 1 were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash in which a car drove off the road into a retention pond near the Price Chopper parking lot and became fully engulfed in flames.

According to a statement from the Shrewsbury Fire Department, all four occupants of the vehicle were able to get out safely and were not injured.

“Engine 3 and Rescue 1 personnel were able to knock down the fire quickly,” the Shrewsbury Fire Department said in its statement.

The Shrewsbury Fire Department said it assisted Lovey’s Towing & Recovery with the recovery of the vehicle.
