LEOMINSTER — On Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, at approximately 8:27 p.m., Leominster Police Officer Jonathan Ramos was dispatched to UMass Memorial’s Leominster Hospital Campus, at 60 Hospital Road, after a Community Healthlink staff member reported that a woman had been assaulted with a car door by a man identified as Calvin Bailey.

“Upon arrival, I spoke with Nina [last name redacted] inside of the behavioral health unit,” Officer Ramos said. “[Nina] informed me of an incident that occurred with her boyfriend of three years, Mr. Calvin Lee Bailey, Sr. [Nina] explained that last Friday (10/17/2025), Mr. Bailey slammed her arm in the door of a vehicle. [Nina] stated the vehicle was a blue 2006 Honda Pilot.”

According to police, Calvin L. Bailey, Sr., 58, is a resident of Fitchburg, MA.

“[Nina] explained that the incident occurred at the Big Steve’s $5 Car Wash located at 561 North Main Street in Leominster,” Officer Ramos said. “[Nina] advised that her dog had thrown up in the vehicle.”

Officer Ramos said Nina, while standing outside the vehicle, reached into the backseat through the rear driver’s-side door in an attempt to grab wipes that were stored in an organizer.

“[Nina] stated at this time, Mr. Bailey slammed the car door on her arm once. [Nina] explained Mr. Bailey was upset that the dog had thrown up in the vehicle,” Officer Ramos said. “Please note while speaking to [Nina], she did have a visible bruise on her right arm consistent with her statements. The bruise did not appear to be fresh. Mr. Bailey, after slamming the car door on [Nina], stated, ‘I didn’t mean to b*tch.’ [Nina] went on further to explain another domestic violence incident that occurred in the area of Market Basket on Water Street in Fitchburg, MA. [Nina] further stated that Mr. Bailey did have access to guns.”

Nina told Officer Ramos that Bailey’s guns were stored at his twin brother’s house in Fitchburg.

“[Nina] advised the firearms were in two safes inside of the residence,” Officer Ramos said. “She stated there were three handguns, one being chambered in .380 and two chambered in .357. [Nina] described the .357s as revolvers.”

Officer Ramos said that after speaking further with Nina and clarifying the events that occurred in Leominster, she explained that she delayed reporting the incident so she could find placement for her dog, which is an emotional support animal.

“I informed [Nina] I would have the Fitchburg Police Department respond to the hospital to speak with her about the Water Street incident,” Officer Ramos said. “I subsequently completed an abused person notice of rights form and a dangerousness worksheet with her. [Nina] elected to seek a restraining order upon her discharge from the hospital.”

Officer Ramos said that, based on Nina’s statement he determined that Calvin Lee Bailey, Sr., would be charged with:

  • Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon

Officer Ramos said that after checking the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services database, he confirmed that neither Bailey nor his twin brother have a license to carry firearms or have any firearms registered to them.

Officer Ramos said that after reviewing Bailey’s Board of Probation record, he learned that Bailey has multiple prior convictions, including an Oct. 9, 2012 conviction in Winchendon District Court for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, for which he received a 2.5-year suspended sentence with 109 days committed; a Feb. 7, 2013 conviction in Fitchburg District Court for aggravated assault and battery resulting in a two-year committed sentence; and a June 16, 2016 conviction in Fitchburg District Court for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, for which he was sentenced to 18 months committed.

Officer Ramos requested a warrant for Bailey’s arrest.

Shortly before midnight on Friday, Oct. 24, Officer Brandon Donahue said that he and Officer Zachary Schaeffer went to the Fitchburg Police Department to take custody of Calvin Bailey, who had been arrested by Fitchburg police based on Officer Ramos’s probable cause for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and transported him back to Leominster Police Station for booking.

“I attempted to contact Nina to update her using the department phone, but I was unable to reach her or leave a voicemail,” Officer Donahue added.

Bailey was arraigned in Leominster District Court on Oct. 24, 2025. Following his arraignment, Bailey was released on personal recognizance under the condition that he stay away from/not contact the victim. His next court date is a pretrial hearing scheduled for Nov. 20, 2025.
