Victims identified in State Street double homicide–suicide in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD — Today, Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni identified the victims in a double homicide–suicide discovered inside a State Street residence last month.

In a statement, Gulluni said Springfield police responded at approximately 9:50 a.m. on Nov. 25 to a home on the 1400 block of State Street for a reported stabbing.

Upon entering the residence, officers located three deceased individuals: two adult males and an adult female.

The victims have been identified as Khamkieo Chingvacha, 67, of Springfield, and Sachivanh Phomphanh, 47, of West Hartford, Connecticut.

The third individual, Kung Kedjumnong, 43, also of West Hartford, is believed to have fatally stabbed both victims before taking his own life, according to the district attorney’s office.

“Investigators have determined there is no ongoing threat to the public,” Gulluni said in the statement.

The incident remains under investigation by the Springfield Police Department’s Homicide Unit, led by Captain Trent Duda, and the Hampden District Attorney’s Murder Unit.

Gulluni expressed his sympathies to the victims’ families.
