SALEM — A Haverhill man was arraigned in Salem District Court yesterday in connection with a wrong-way crash on Route 128 that left a New Hampshire man dead.
According to a statement from the Office of Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker, Jerry Andujar Bodden, 42, of Haverhill, was charged with motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation and improper operation of a motor vehicle following the fatal crash which took place last Friday in Danvers. Bodden entered a plea of not guilty before Judge Randy Chapman.
The Commonwealth alleges that at approximately 9:49 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, Bodden was operating a Hyundai Elantra in the wrong direction when it collided with a Nissan Sentra traveling southbound on Route 128 near Exit 42 in Danvers, also known as the Route 35/High Street exit.

David Mackey, 58, of Sandown, New Hampshire, a passenger in the Nissan Sentra, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Sentra suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital. Bodden was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
At the arraignment, Judge Chapman set Bodden’s bail at $50,000 and imposed multiple conditions, including GPS monitoring, home confinement except for work, legal and medical appointments, a prohibition on alcohol consumption with monitoring, and an order not to drive while the case is pending.
Assistant District Attorney Patrick Collins, appearing on behalf of the Commonwealth at the arraignment, told the court that prosecutors intend to file additional charges related to Bodden’s alleged operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
Bodden was represented by attorney James Milligan.
The investigation into the crash was conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Massachusetts State Police Troop A detectives, Massachusetts State Police in Danvers, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
Bodden is scheduled to return to court on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026.
