WORCESTER — Yesterday, a Worcester County grand jury indicted Ednerson Charles, 28, of Brockton, on charges of murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for stabbing Ronald Perceval, 40, of Fitchburg, to death last September.
According to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr., the charges stem from an incident reported at approximately 5:27 a.m. on Sept. 16, 2025, when Fitchburg police were dispatched to Chester Street following a report of a disturbance involving a knife.
When officers arrived on scene, they located a single male victim, identified as Perceval, suffering from stab wounds.
Perceval was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, according to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
Charles was arrested without incident later that day in Brockton by a multi-agency team that included members of the Fitchburg Police Department, Brockton Police Department, Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Worcester County and Plymouth County District Attorneys’ Offices, the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, the Massachusetts State Police Critical Incident Technical Investigations Team, and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Attorney General’s Office.
Charles was arraigned in Fitchburg District Court on Sept. 17, 2025, and has remained in custody since that time.
The indictment moves the case to Worcester County Superior Court, where Charles is expected to be arraigned on Jan. 7, 2026.
