WALPOLE — On Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, at approximately 1:20 p.m., the Town of Walpole’s Emergency Communications Center began receiving multiple emergency calls reporting a serious motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in the area of 1400 Washington Street.
According to a statement from Walpole Police Chief Richard Kelleher, upon arrival, police and fire emergency personnel located an 82-year-old man in the roadway with serious, life-threatening injuries.
“The Walpole Fire Department was on scene almost immediately and began life sustaining measures,” Chief Kelleher said in the statement.

The victim was subsequently transported to a local hospital by the Walpole Fire Department.
“A preliminary investigation by officers at the scene indicates that the motor vehicle was traveling north on Washington Street as the male party was crossing the roadway on foot,” Chief Kelleher said. “The man was then struck in the northbound travel lane.”
Chief Kelleher said the driver remained on scene, summoned emergency services, and is cooperating with the investigation.
The crash remains under investigation by the Walpole Police Department’s Detectives Bureau and Crash Reconstruction Team, with assistance from the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office.
Chief Kelleher said no further information will be released at this time because the investigation is active.
