โUpon my arrival I was met by Officer Erich Wenc, Officer [Michael] Fournier and Officer [Timothy] Bullock. Standing in the driveway with officers was the reporting party, identified as Michelle [last name redacted],โ Det. McNeeley said. โ[Michelle] explained that the homeowner, Donna [last name redacted], lives at the home alone, but is currently away in Maine where she lives part-time, visiting family.โ
Michelle said she came to the residence at Donnaโs request to place packages into the unlocked enclosed porch.
โUpon [Michelle’s] arrival, she noticed the door between the porch and the house had been forcefully opened, with a piece of the door trim leaning into the kitchen,โ Det. McNeeley said. “[Michelle] exited the residence and called law enforcement. Officer Wenc explained to me that no one had entered the residence before my arrival, so as not to disturb any physical evidence.โ
Detective McNeeley said he and Officer Wenc then searched the house to ensure the intruder was no longer inside the home.
After searching the home, Detective McNeeley said he took overview photos of the exterior/interior of the residence.
While taking the overview photos, Detective McNeeley said he noticed the first pane of glass in a rear window had been broken out, which he said appeared consistent with an attempt to enter the residence.
โUsing fingerprint powder, I dusted the door knobs entering the residence, as well as what appeared to be a footprint against the door between the enclosed porch and the living area,โ Det. McNeeley said. โI found no fingerprints on the regions I dusted and found the shoe impression to be smeared to the point that I was unable to distinguish a pattern. [Donna] was able to provide me with videos of the unknown individual breaking into her residence.โ
Detective McNeeley said he reviewed the surveillance video provided by Donna, and that on Oct. 15, 2025, at about 10:32 a.m., an unknown white male is seen in the footage entering Donnaโs enclosed porch and lingering around, knocking on the door between the enclosed porch and the residence.
Detective McNeeley said that, in the video, the suspect was wearing blue jeans, black Nike shoes, a black hoodie with Maass Tree Services’ name and phone number on it, a blue/purple bandana covering over the lower part of his face, and a black backpack with the green and red Mountain Dew logo and the word โVailโ written on the side of it.
โThe unknown male then walks across the enclosed porch and checks the door that enters the garage, while carrying a clipboard with a white piece of paper attached,โ Det. McNeeley said. โI could tell the paper had black ink writing on it with what appeared to be a lawn rake drawn in the upper right side of the paper. I also noticed the unknown male carried a cell phone in the left rear pocket of his jeans.โ
After knocking and walking around the porch for a few moments, the man then sets his backpack on the table thatโs on the enclosed porch.
โThe unknown male opens the black backpack and retrieves what appears to be a straight edge screw driver and attempts to use it to pry open the door with no success in gaining entry,โ Det. McNeeley said.
Detective McNeeley said the man then exits the rear door of the enclosed porch and heads toward the backyard of the residence, where he discovered the broken window. A couple of minutes later, the man returns to the enclosed porch, puts his back against the door, lifts his foot, and kicks the door twice, smashing it open.
โThe unknown male can be seen entering the residence and walking straight towards the master bedroom,โ Det. McNeeley said. โAfter a few minutes, the unknown male returns with a make shift bag full of items and stuffs the bag of items into his backpack before leaving.โ
Detective McNeeley said that on Oct. 17, 2025, at 2:21 a.m., Donnaโs surveillance footage captured an individual wearing all black, including black shoes with a white Nike logo on them, enter the residence and walk around for a few minutes.
โYou can see on the video this individual uses his cell phone for light while in the residence,โ Det. McNeeley said, adding that after a few minutes, the individual leaves the house with another makeshift bag full of items.
โIn my opinion, this is the same individual who broke into [Donnaโs] residence on October 15, 2025, due to the person in both videos wearing the same shoes,โ Det. McNeeley said. โThis places the same individual/cell phone in the same residence on two separate occasions when no one was in the residence at all because of [Donna] being away on vacation.โ
Detective McNeeley said that because a package had been delivered while the homeowner was away and left in the driveway in front of the garage, it could signal to would-be burglars that no one was home.
โWhile processing the crime scene, I noticed a couple of open/empty jewelry boxes laying on [Donnaโs] master bedroom bed,โ Det. McNeeley said. โ[Donna] explained to me that those were on her dresser full of jewelry/gold coins. I secured the boxes as evidence.โ
Detective McNeeley said that on Oct. 18, 2025, Donna returned to her residence from Maine, and wrote out a list of the jewelry and gold coins that were stolen.
โ[Donna] estimates the value of the stolen items at $100,000,โ Det. McNeeley said.
On Oct. 20, 2025, Detective McNeeley said Officer Ryan Chase brought the jewelry boxes to the Worcester Latent Print Unit for processing.
Detective McNeeley said he applied for a โcell phone tower dumpโ search warrant, which was approved by Judge Gavin Reardon of Worcester Superior Court on Oct. 21, 2025. He said that same day, Sergeant Brian Cardrant was dispatched to City Depot Road near Donnaโs residence after a resident reported an individual soliciting in the area.
โSergeant Cardrant found and approached this individual on City Depot Road who identified himself as [53-year-old] Eric Malone,โ Det. McNeeley said. โDuring conversation, Eric informed Sergeant Cardrant that he is from Boston, but now living at XX Lakeview Drive in Charlton, which was less than one block from where Sergeant Cardrant encountered Eric and directly diagonal across the street from [Donnaโs] residence. Eric informed Sergeant Cardrant that he was attempting to solicit money for hockey uniforms while passing out the handmade flyers for fall lawn clean-up services. Sergeant Cardrant explained to Eric that he needed a solicitorโs permit to be out soliciting funds.โ
Detective McNeeley said Sergeant Cardrant found the individual suspicious because the breaking and entering had recently occurred nearby, close to where Sergeant Cardrant encountered the man.
โSergeant Cardrant emailed me still photos of Eric from his body camera footage,โ Det. McNeeley said. โIn the still images, Eric is wearing blue pajama pants, a gray hoodie sweatshirt, a gray face mask covering his face just past his nose, and green Boston Celtics gloves with the Celtics basketball team symbol on them.โ
Sergeant Cardrant also reported that there were burrs on the manโs pants.
โIn the photos you could also see Eric holding a piece of paper with hand writing on it stating, โNeed a fall clean up, no job to big, no job too small. My name is Eric please give me a call!โ with the phone number (561-XXX-XXXX) written at the bottom of the paper,โ Det. McNeeley said. โAlso on this flyer was a drawing of a yard rake in the upper right side of the paper, this appeared to match the piece of paper that the unknown individual who committed the breaking and enterings had on a clipboard when he broke into [Donnaโs] residence.โ
Detective McNeeley called the number on the flyer but it rang though to voicemail.
โThe voice mail stated, โThis is Eric, leave me a message,โโ Det. McNeeley said. โSergeant Cardrant, who [also] listened to the voice on the voicemail, informed me that it did sound like the individual who identified himself as Eric Malone.โ
Officer McNeeley said Sergeant Cardrant provided the information to Lieutenant Anthony Gribbons, who supervises the Detective Bureau, and that investigators used various search methods, including Google and Cash App, to trace the phone number to an Eric Wallace.
Lieutenant Gribbons searched for Eric Wallace using the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) and the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) and found an Eric Wallace out of Revere, Massachusetts, with several breaking and entering charges on his record, Officer McNeeley said.
According to police, Eric R. Wallace, 52, is a resident of Revere, MA.
โLieutenant Gribbons also informed us that there was an Eric Wallace with similar identifiers that had a warrant for armed assault in a dwelling out of Suffolk Superior Court,โ Det. McNeeley said. โUsing one of the 47 booking images provided on Crimetracer from Eric Wallace’s previous arrests, officers involved in the investigation formed the opinion with a high degree of certainty that the individual who provided Sergeant Cardrant with the name of Eric Malone, was in fact Eric Wallace and had an active warrant.โ
Detective McNeeley said he used his Charlton Police Department-issued cell phone to text the phone number listed on the handmade flyer.
โIn an attempt to draw Wallace out of [# redacted] Lakeview Drive, I informed Wallace that I had seen him at my residence and asked if he was looking to do yard work,โ Det. McNeeley said.
Detective McNeeley said Wallace replied, โYes, Iโm glad you called,โ and that when asked whether he worked for a company, Wallace said he worked for himself.
โI then asked Wallace if he had any references to which he provided me with the names of Alice and Kamby [last name redacted] and provided me with Kamby’s phone number,โ Det. McNeeley said. โI informed Wallace that I lived at 83 City Depot Road and inquired if he could come give me a quote for fall clean-up of my yard. Deputy Chief Gary Mason, Lieutenant Gribbons, Sergeant Jason White and I sat at different locations on City Depot Road before and after Lakeview Drive to have eyes on Wallace if he left the residence to go to 83 City Depot Road.โ
Detective McNeeley said the plan was to stop Wallace, identify him, confirm his identity while he was en route to 83 City Depot Road, and arrest him on the warrant if he was the individual wanted through the Warrant Management System (WMS).
โAfter approximately 25 minutes of Wallace not leaving the residence, Sergeant White and I decided to do a knock and talk on the door,โ Det. McNeeley said. โKamby [last name redacted] answered the door with her daughter, Lindsay [last name redacted], standing behind her.โ
Sergeant White asked Kamby if Eric was at the residence and she said he wasn’t.
โKamby did admit to knowing who Eric was, but stated he was not at the residence at this time,โ Det. McNeeley said.
After Sergeant White finished his conversation with Kamby, the officers walked down the front steps into the front yard, where Eric Wallace appeared at the front door and stepped onto the porch.
โI walked up to Wallace and asked him what his name was, to which he informed me that it was Eric Malone,โ Det. McNeeley said. โKnowing Eric Wallace’s tattoos from Crimetracer, I lifted Eric’s right sleeve and found the same identical tattoo of a green clover with a crown and two hands holding the clover. I informed Eric that I know his name is Eric Wallace and that he has a warrant out for his arrest. Eric, now admitting that he is Eric Wallace, informed me that he uses his family name Malone sometimes.โ
Wallace was then handcuffed and escorted to the rear holding compartment of Sergeant White’s cruiser.
Detective McNeeley said that during a search of Wallaceโs person incident to arrest, he pulled Wallaceโs wallet out of his pocket and watched several $100 bills fall to the ground.
โI recovered the cash and put the cash and wallet back into Wallace’s pocket,โ Det. McNeeley said. โI then placed Mr. Wallace’s cell phone, that he had in his possession at the time of his arrest and secured it in my cruiser as it was my belief that this phone may have evidentiary values, as the male seen in the videos on October 15th and October 17th had a cell phone in his possession; and used it during the criminal activity. Officer Eric Wenc then transferred Wallace to his cruiser and transported Wallace to the Charlton Police Department for booking.โ
While still on scene, Detective McNeeley, Lieutenant Gribbons, and Sergeant White spoke with Kamby who signed a form giving officers consent to search her home, Det. McNeeley said.
โLindsay [last name redacted], who is an adult and dating Wallace, also gave officers consent to search her basement bedroom,โ Det. McNeeley said. โIt should be noted that Wallace stated several times that he did not reside at this residence and that he had only been in Charlton for two days.โ
Detective McNeeley and Sergeant White entered Lindsayโs bedroom where they noticed a packed suitcase on the bed and three packed bags on the floor.
โLindsay explained that she and Wallace were packing to leave for drug rehab because they were both addicts,โ Det. McNeeley said.
Linsday told police the three bags on the floor belonged to Wallace.
โOne of the bags, in plain view was a black backpack with the green and red Mountain Dew logo on top and the word โVailโ written on the side,โ Det. McNeeley said. โThis was identical to the backpack worn by the unknown individual that broke into [Donnaโs] residence at 10:32 a.m. on Oct. 15, 2025. I then noticed black Nike shoes with a white Nike โswooshโ symbol on the side inside one of the open bags. These shoes matched to the unknown male’s shoes as well. Also inside the open bag was a face covering that matched what the unknown male was covering his face with during the Oct. 15, 2025, incident. Within the residence, officers also found the Maass Tree Services hoodie that the unknown male wore during that same incident.โ
During the search, Sergeant White located a blue pillowcase on a top shelf in Lindsayโs bedroom walk-in closet, Detective McNeeley said.
โInside the pillow case were a few pieces of jewelry, two wooden jewelry box drawers matching the jewelry box that I removed from Bibber’s house to process as evidence,โ Det. McNeeley said.
Detective McNeeley said a yellow shirt pin that had the words โbreak danceโ on it and several other assorted items and boxes were recovered, and Donna was able to identify them as some of her stolen property after he described the items to her over the phone.
โ[Donna] explained that the property I found was not valuable in the monetary sense. Officers were unable to find the jewelry/gold coins that [Donna] estimated the value to be at $100,000,โ Det. McNeeley said.
Detective McNeeley said that in addition to allowing police to search her home, Kamby also allowed police access to her security camera system affixed to the exterior of her residence.
โIn these videos, Lieutenant Gribbons observed a person walk across the front of the home wearing the backpack and clothing similar to that worn by the party depicted in the video at the time frame for the break and also observed a female using her phone at the front of the home; these videos coincided with the time frames for each of the breaks on City Depot Road and further aligned with the suspect being on the phone during the overnight break on October 17th,โ Det. McNeeley said.
Detective McNeeley said that while officers were conducting the search, Lindsay repeatedly stated she was not involved in Wallace breaking into Donnaโs residence and said she was unaware that he had done so.
โLindsay explained that over the weekend, Wallace took an Uber to the train station and caught a train into Boston alone,โ Det. McNeeley said. โLindsay believed that if Wallace had the jewelry and gold coins, he must have done something with them there. Lindsay adamantly denied having any part, or knowledge in, Wallace breaking into [# redacted] City Depot Road.โ
Detective McNeeley said that during the fingerprinting phase of booking, Wallace told Sgt. White and Officer Wenc, during a casual conversation, that he and Lindsay had traveled to Boston together over the weekend.
โIt should be noted that Lieutenant Gribbons Mirandized both Eric Wallace and Lindsay [last name redacted] upon his arrival at Lakeview Drive, shortly after Mr. Wallace had been placed in custody,โ Det. McNeeley added.
Detective McNeeley said that, with this information, he went back to Lakeview Drive to speak with Lindsay.
โI read Lindsay her rights to Miranda off a card on body camera. Lindsay still denied having anything to do with Wallace’s criminal affairs and denied going to Boston with Wallace,โ Det. McNeeley said. Adding, โMr. Wallace was booked and then was brought into the Interview Room where he was shown the video images from [Donnaโs] cameras. While observing the images, he denied being involved, yet had not been accused of the crimes. He then made a statement that if he was being investigated for a crime, that he did not want to speak without a lawyer present. Based on this statement, all questioning was stopped.โ
Detective McNeeley said that at this time, and based on the investigative efforts of multiple officers, he believed probable cause existed to charge Eric Wallace with the following offenses:
- Breaking & Entering Nighttime for Felony
- Breaking & Entering Daytime for Felony
- Larceny over $1,200 (two counts, from the incident on Oct. 15 and Oct. 17)
- Malicious Destruction of Property +$1,200 (two counts, door and window)
- Larceny from Building (two counts, for removing property from the residence on Oct. 15 and Oct. 17)
- Possess Burglarious Instrument (screwdriver to pry door)
โAt this time the investigation into these events is active and ongoing, property was seized of evidentiary value; it is expected that as this investigation continues additional evidence will be uncovered, that may result in additional charges,โ Det. McNeeley said.
Wallace was arraigned on the aforementioned charges on Oct. 22, 2025, in Dudley District Court. Following his arraignment, he was released on $10,000 cash bail. His next court date was a pretrial hearing scheduled for Nov. 21, 2025.
Wallaceโs next court date was a discovery and compliance hearing scheduled for Dec. 17, 2025.
Disclaimer: If you are wondering why the arrest in this story took place in October, thatโs because I had to file FOIA request(s) to obtain the court documents. FOIAs are time-consuming.
