Two Randolph residents charged in prostitution sting at Southborough hotel

SOUTHBOROUGH — Southborough police arrested two Randolph residents Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation at a local hotel.

According to a statement from Southborough Police Chief Ryan Newell, on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, a Southborough police detective conducted a controlled prostitution sting operation at the Red Roof Inn located at 367 Turnpike Road.

As a result of the operation, Taylah Messia, 24, of Randolph, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Class B drug
  • Sexual conduct for a fee

Chief Newell said that through a follow-up on scene investigation, a second individual, identified as Paulino Afonso-Miranda, 36, of Randolph, was charged with:

  • Possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug (subsequent offense)

Police located 12 Percocet pills on Afonso-Miranda’s person during the investigation.

“This investigation was conducted to address ongoing concerns about illegal activity and its impact on the safety of our community,” Chief Newell said. “These types of efforts are about preventing exploitation and reducing associated drug activity, which helps to keep our residents and visitors safe.”

The investigation remains ongoing, and police said additional charges may be filed at a later date.
