Maine woman arrested on Newburyport District Court warrant at Ayer gas station

AYER โ€” On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at approximately 12:29 a.m., Ayer Police Officer James Crawford was concluding a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of Archerโ€™s Mobil Gas Station at 70 Main Street, when Sergeant Timothy Ialeggio notified him that a woman inside the gas station had an active warrant out of Newburyport District Court, which was issued on Jan. 4, 2023.

According to Officer Crawford, the woman was identified as Cris Cummings, 32, of Bangor, Maine.

โ€œSgt. Ialeggio and I then entered Archerโ€™s Mobil to make contact with Cris,โ€ Officer Crawford said. โ€œThrough conversation, we were able to positively confirm Crisโ€™ identity. Dispatch confirmed Crisโ€™ straight warrant as active.โ€

Officer Crawford said he then placed Cummings in handcuffs and escorted her to the rear of his cruiser where she was searched for contraband and weapons. Cummings was then placed into the cruiserโ€™s prisoner compartment and transported to the station for booking.

After Cummings was booked and fingerprinted, Officer Crawford said she was released to the front lobby on personal recognizance, which was set by Bail Commissioner Charlene McCormack.

โ€œCris refused a community transport back to her residence,” Officer Crawford said.

Cris Cummings, 32, of Bangor, Maine, was arrested and charged with:

Cummingsโ€™ arraignment was scheduled for the morning of Oct. 29, 2025, in Ayer District Court.
