Man, 60, airlifted after construction accident at former Friendly’s site in Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER — On Friday, Feb. 13, at approximately 11:08 a.m., the Bridgewater fire and police departments responded to a report of a construction accident at 70 Broad Street, the site of the former Friendly’s restaurant.

According to Bridgewater Fire Chief John Schlatz, when crews arrived on scene, they found a 60-year-old male suffering from multiple injuries. Paramedics with the Bridgewater Fire Department stabilized the man at the scene before transporting him by ambulance to a landing zone at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish on Center Street. He was then flown by medical helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

At the time he was transported, the victim was reported to be in stable condition.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration responded to the scene and is investigating the incident.

Chief Schlatz said no additional information was available as of Friday.
