Clinton Select Board approves license for Starbucks ahead of March opening on Main Street

CLINTON — During its meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, the Clinton Select Board voted to approve a common victualler license for Starbucks Corporation to open a coffee shop at 830 Main Street. A common victualler’s license is required in Massachusetts for businesses that prepare and serve food to the public.

Daniel Brennan, who handles permits and licenses for Starbucks, told the board the store is currently under construction and will be a freestanding, approximately 2,500-square-foot building with a drive-thru, 47 interior seats and a seasonal patio with 10 seats.

The proposed hours of operation are 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.

“We’re targeting a March 13th open,” Brennan said before the board opened the floor for public comment.

No residents spoke in opposition to the license during the public hearing.

Following the close of the public hearing, Select Board member Mary Dickhaut noted that residents have been eager for the store to open, saying, “I’m glad you’re almost open because everybody’s asking when are they going to open? There’s a lot of anxious people. So, we’re glad to welcome you people.”

The board then unanimously approved the license.
