TEWKSBURY — On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, Tewksbury police were notified that a woman reported leaving her home with a man and being taken to a location on Main Street in Tewksbury, where she alleged she was held against her will.
According to Tewksbury Police Chief Ryan Columbus, a preliminary investigation identified Carlos Candelario, 35, of Lawrence, as the suspect.

Police located Candelario at the Motel 6 at 95 Main Street and arrested him without incident.
During a subsequent search of Candelario’s motel room, police reported locating a loaded firearm and multiple bags containing suspected cocaine, crack cocaine and fentanyl.
Carlos Candelario, 35, of Lawrence, was charged with the following offenses:
- Kidnapping
- Rape
- Deriving Support from Prostitution
- Trafficking of a Person for Sexual Servitude
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (three counts)
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class E Drug
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug
- Possession of a Firearm without FID Card
- Improper Storage of a Firearm
Candelario was arraigned in Lowell District Court. Following his arraignment, he was ordered held without bail, Chief Columbus said.
