Duxbury police arrest man accused of holding butcher knife to woman’s throat, trafficking cocaine

DUXBURY — On the evening of Thursday, March 26, 2026, Duxbury police responded to Island Creek Village after receiving a report of two men fighting in a hallway.

According to Duxbury Police Chief Michael Carbone, when police arrived on scene, they were met by a woman who identified one of the men and reported that he had attacked her inside her apartment, placing a large butcher knife to her throat.

Police located and detained the suspected aggressor. During an initial pat frisk of the man for the reported weapon, Chief Carbone said police found a bag containing assorted pills, two prescription pill bottles that didn’t have his name on them, and additional drug paraphernalia.

“While the man was detained, officers observed the male clenching his legs tightly as though concealing an object,” Chief Carbone said in a statement issued Monday.

Concerned that a weapon might be hidden, officers conducted an additional pat frisk and found a bag containing benzodiazepines, a Class B controlled substance. Police also found a bag containing about 28 grams of cocaine.

“The butcher knife used in the attack was found in the apartment and seized as evidence,” Chief Carbone said, adding that the other man involved in the fight was determined to have been acting in self-defense.

The suspect was arrested and charged with the following offenses:

  • Assault with Dangerous Weapon
  • Assault & Battery on Family/Household Member
  • Assault & Battery
  • Disturbing the Peace
  • Possession of Class B Substance (Subsequent Offense)
  • Possession of Class E Substance (Subsequent Offense)
  • Trafficking in Cocaine

Chief Carbone said the identities of those involved in the incident were not released because of domestic violence laws.
