10-year-old girl struck and killed by vehicle in Webster

WEBSTER — On Saturday, April 11, 2026, at approximately 12:49 p.m., the South Worcester County Communication Center received a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

According to the Webster Police Department, officers, along with Webster Fire Department personnel and Webster EMS, immediately responded to the scene.

Prior to first responders’ arrival, a passerby who had a personal automatic external defibrillator with them began CPR on the victim, a 10-year-old child who had been struck by a vehicle and was unresponsive.

First responders took over medical care upon arrival, and Webster EMS transported the child, identified as Marleigh Guevara, to UMass Memorial Medical Center. Despite efforts by first responders and hospital staff, Guevara later died from her injuries, Webster police said.

Police said the vehicle involved was being operated by Sherry Mae Plitouke, 35, of Southbridge.

The crash is under investigation by the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Accident Reconstruction Unit, in coordination with the Webster Police Department and the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.

Counselors were made available at Park Avenue School, where Guevara was a student, to support students and staff.

The girl’s family is holding a candlelight vigil at 7:00 p.m. tonight at 535 School Street, with parking available at the VNA lot on School Street.

“When a community tragically loses a child, it loses a piece of its soul,” the Webster Police Department said. “Our hearts go out to Marleigh’s family and friends as they endure this terrible loss.”

The Webster Police Department said no additional information is being released at the present time.

  1. If this woman had been locked up because of her prior dui and drug charges….like LAST WEEK….this girl would still be alive. Shame on the judge who let her out. She killed a young child after having these charges against her last Friday and appearing in court one week ago today. Yet she was back at it Saturday tragically taking this girls life. Shaking my head at the justice system. I hope she gets vehicular manslaughter this time.
