DOUGLAS — On Thursday, January 8, 2026, at approximately 8:18 p.m., Officer Jonathan Gomes of the Douglas Police Department was conducting stationary radar traffic enforcement on North Street when he observed a black Ford Focus heading northbound.

Officer Gomes said that when the vehicle passed his location, he observed that the rear lights were not illuminated and he was unable to read the registration from sixty feet.

“I left my location and conducted a stop of the vehicle a short time later on Gilboa Street, also a public way,” Officer Gomes said. “I was then able to determine the vehicle was bearing MA PC [# redacted]. I identified the operator to be Nicholas Deschene.”

According to police, Nicholas R. Deschene, 30, is a resident of Douglas, MA. Court documents indicate he’s single and works as a machinist.

“Nicholas was advised the reason for the stop,” Officer Gomes said. “Further investigation revealed that Nicholas had a suspended license status for accumulation of points.”

Nicholas Deschene, 30, of Douglas, was issued a summons for the following violations/offenses:

  • Operate Motor Vehicle with License Suspended
  • Number Plate Violation

Deschene’s arraignment was scheduled for the morning of January 9, 2026, in Uxbridge District Court.
