Framingham firefighters extinguish fire on Irving Street, rescue cat from roof

FRAMINGHAM — Framingham firefighters extinguished a one-alarm fire at 185 Irving Street on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 29, 2026, after a fire prevention officer spotted smoke while driving by the building.

According to Framingham Fire Chief Michael Dutcher, the fire prevention officer called in the working fire after seeing smoke coming from the property.

Chief Dutcher said firefighters quickly responded to the scene and were able to extinguish the exterior fire before it spread.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters also safely rescued one cat from the roof.

The fire caused damage to a portion of the building’s siding but did not extend into the interior, Chief Dutcher said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Framingham Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Division.
