LAWRENCE — On Thursday, April 30, 2026, at approximately 9:21 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a 2014 Jeep Cherokee near 63 Erving Avenue.
According to Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker and Lawrence Police Chief Maurice Aguiler, one of the vehicle’s occupants, a 20-year-old Lawrence woman, was found with an apparent gunshot wound and transported to an area hospital. Tucker’s office said she was pronounced dead this morning.
The other occupant of the vehicle, a 20-year-old Lawrence man, was also found with an apparent gunshot wound and taken to an area hospital, where he is now listed in critical condition.
Tucker and Aguiler said the circumstances of the shooting and crash, as well as the relationship between the vehicle’s two occupants, remain under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to Tucker’s office, the Lawrence Police Department and the Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Authorities said no identification information would be released today pending family notifications.
