Webster man sentenced to 10 years for trafficking nearly a kilogram of meth

BOSTON — On Friday, May 8, 2026, a Webster man was sentenced in federal court in Worcester to 10 years in prison for distributing crystal methamphetamine, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts announced.

Giang Tran, 36, of Webster, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman to 10 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts reported that, in January 2026, Tran pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, involving 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, and distribution of methamphetamine. Tran was indicted on June 10, 2025.

Federal prosecutors say that, in December 2024, a cooperating witness told law enforcement that Tran was supplying pounds of crystal methamphetamine. Tran later agreed to deliver crystal methamphetamine to undercover law enforcement officers who were posing as the cooperating witness on three occasions.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, Tran personally delivered the drugs to a commercial plaza in Everett on Jan. 2, 2025, then sent an associate to make additional drug deliveries in Worcester on Jan. 8 and Jan. 21, 2025.

In total, prosecutors say Tran delivered or arranged the delivery of approximately one kilogram of methamphetamine.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Jarod A. Forget, special agent in charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New England Field Division, announced the sentence on Monday, May 11, 2026.

The Riverside, California, DEA Office provided assistance in the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Samuel R. Feldman of the Narcotics and Money Laundering Unit prosecuted the case.
