EVERETT — On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at approximately 8:20 p.m., a man entered Everett Variety Store, a convenience store at 82 Main Street, committed an armed robbery while masked with a knife, then fled on foot as Everett police officers responded to the scene.
According to Everett Police Chief Paul D. Strong, a subsequent investigation, which was conducted over the next few days by the Everett Police IMPACT Unit and included a canvass of the area and hours of video retrieval and review, led to the identification of two suspects alleged to have been involved in the robbery.
Chief Strong said arrest warrants were sought and obtained for both suspects — Richard Burns and Corey Roy — who were later located and arrested by the Boston Police Department.
Richard Burns, formerly of Wakefield, was charged with the following:
- Robbery, Armed & Masked
- Assault to Rob, Armed
- Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (knife)
Corey Roy, of Boston, was charged with the following:
- Accessory After the Fact (Robbery, Armed & Masked)
“I want to commend the lead officer on this investigation, Officer Richard Martignetti, as well as his partner Officer Sean Fitzpatrick for all their hard work on this case, specifically Officer Martignetti who diligently canvas the surrounding areas for video surveillance, to include requesting and obtaining MBTA bus and train surveillance, that led to the images of the suspects,” Chief Strong said. “Officers Martignetti and Fitzpatrick were also able to utilize their contacts at the Boston Police Department which led to a quick identification and apprehension of Richard Burns and Corey Roy.”
Chief Strong also thanked the Boston Police Department and Transit Police for their assistance.
