
MAYNARD — Maynard High School students were recognized for their work in media production during the 2026 Student Production Awards, presented by the Boston/New England Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
According to Maynard Public Schools Superintendent Brian Haas, the awards honor excellence in student media production. Maynard High School students submitted entries in January 2026, and panels of judges from across the country reviewed the submissions.
The students participated through Maynard High School’s Chapter 74 Multimedia Production and Broadcasting program under the guidance of teacher Hannah Fullam.
Harper Carter was named the winner in the non-fiction long form category for “No Straight Lines,” serving as writer, videographer and editor.
Brendan Fairley and Levi DeRome received honorable mention in the non-fiction long form category for “Here I Am.” Fairley served as director, videographer, editor and sound, while DeRome served as director and videographer.
Carter, Fairley and DeRome also received honorable mention in the fiction short form category for “You Can Change.” Carter served as writer, director, editor and talent; Fairley served as writer, director, editor and talent; and DeRome served as writer, videographer and talent.
Miles Avery received honorable mention in the promotional video category for “The 2025 Telethon is Coming!!” Avery served as director and editor.
Thomas Stachowicz and Henry Waguespack received honorable mention in the animation, graphics and special effects category for “The Classroom.” Both students served as writers, videographers and editors.
Fairley and DeRome also received honorable mention in the photographer category for “Here I Am.”
“With the exception of Avery’s promotional piece for the Beacon Santa Telethon, all projects were created as part of classroom assignments in Communications 1 or Communications 2,” Superintendent Haas said in a statement.
A ceremony honoring Carter’s win is scheduled for June 8, 2026, at Polar Park in Worcester. The ceremony will include awards and a behind-the-scenes tour of the Worcester Red Sox control room.
Winners of the regional Student Production Awards have the opportunity to advance to national competition. As part of this honor, Superintendent Haas said Maynard High School will receive a commemorative glass pillar, the school’s ninth since 2018.
“These awards are a testament to the creativity, dedication and hard work of our students,” Fullam said. “I am incredibly proud of what they have accomplished and excited to see where their talents take them.”
