BOSTON — A Worcester man was sentenced Thursday, June 4, 2026, to more than 11 years in prison for charges that arose after he was caught attempting to ship approximately 2.4 kilograms of methamphetamine pills concealed in children’s toy packaging in the fall of 2024.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, Tong Tran, 35, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman to 138 months, or 11 and a half years, in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
Tran pleaded guilty in March 2026 to possession with intent to distribute controlled substances after he was charged in April 2025.
Federal prosecutors say that on or about September 19, 2024, Tran was identified shipping a package at a Worcester post office. A search of the package revealed approximately 2.4 kilograms of orange pills containing methamphetamine concealed in the packaging of a children’s toy. A partial fingerprint on the wrapping materials inside the box belonged to Tran. Tran was also photographed shipping two other packages containing methamphetamine pills.
On April 14, 2025, during a search of Tran’s residence, authorities located a pill press, binding agent, pill dyes, and additional equipment used to manufacture pills, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts reported.
The search also resulted in the seizure of 3.3 kilograms of methamphetamine and approximately $8,000 in cash.

Forget, special agent in charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New England Field Division, announced the sentence.
The Auburn Police Department provided assistance in the investigation.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kaitlin J. Brown of the Worcester Branch Office prosecuted the case.
