GLOUCESTER — On Monday, June 8, 2026, at about 12:39 a.m., the Gloucester Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire at 10 Wolf Street, a single-family, single-story home.
According to the Gloucester Fire Department, while responding to the scene, the Gloucester Fire Engine 2 crew observed heavy fire coming from the home and declared a working fire.
When crews arrived on scene, the fire was already heavily involved and appeared to have started on the exterior of the home before spreading inside and into the attic.
The home’s two occupants and their dog escaped before firefighters arrived.

Firefighters began an aggressive attack on the exterior flames, and a second alarm was struck to bring additional support to the scene.
After knocking down the flames on the exterior of the residence, crews entered the home and reached the attic, where much of the fire had spread, and quickly brought the flames under control.
Gloucester firefighters rescued two pet birds from the first floor and returned them to the owners outside. Both birds are expected to be okay, the department said.
Crews remained on scene for several hours, conducting extensive overhaul operations after the fire was brought under control.
A preliminary investigation found that smoking materials outside the home were the likely cause of the fire, according to the Gloucester Fire Deparrtment.
The residence sustained major damage from the flames, smoke, and water.
Gloucester’s building and electrical inspectors responded to the scene, along with National Grid.
The Manchester, Rockport and Essex fire departments, along with Beauport EMS and Rehab 5, provided mutual aid and standby support. The Beverly, Hamilton, and Ipswich fire departments provided station coverage.
