FALL RIVER — The Bristol County Sheriff’s Office will host Flag Sojourn 250 at the USS Massachusetts at Battleship Cove on Monday, June 15, at 11:00 a.m.

The event will take place at Battleship Cove, located at 5 Water Street in Fall River.

David C. King, a Harvard University professor of government and faculty chair of Harvard’s bipartisan program for newly elected members of the U.S. Congress, will serve as the keynote speaker.

The event will also include a military flyover provided by Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod.

Flag Sojourn 250 is a national unity project organized by the National Flag Foundation and America250’s America Waves program. The project centers on a single American flag traveling to all 50 states, U.S. territories and 26 overseas military cemeteries ahead of the country’s 250th anniversary.

The flag’s journey began on Flag Day, June 14, 2025. Since then, the flag has traveled to overseas U.S. military cemeteries in 10 countries, as well as U.S. territories in the Pacific and Atlantic.

The flag returned to the United States on Oct. 8, 2025, before beginning a domestic passage across the country with assistance from the National Sheriffs’ Association.

Massachusetts is hosting the Flag Sojourn 250 from June 12 to June 17, 2026, before the flag continues to Washington, D.C., where it will be formally presented to the America250th Committee.

The flag’s Massachusetts journey is being planned in partnership with the Massachusetts Sheriffs’ Association, the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism, the Executive Office of Veterans’ Services and the Executive Office of Technology Services and Security.
