FITCHBURG — On Friday, June 26, 2026, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Fitchburg police responded to 100 Main Street following a report of a suspicious unattended bag in the area.
According to the Fitchburg Police Department, officers secured the area, out of an abundance of caution, and requested assistance from the Fitchburg Fire Department and the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Fitchburg police said the incident has been resolved, the case is closed, and there is no danger to the public.
The Fitchburg Police Department thanked the public for its patience and cooperation during the incident, as well as the Fitchburg Fire Department and the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit for their assistance.
