FITCHBURG — On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at approximately 4:03 p.m., Fitchburg firefighters responded to 42 Summer Street following a report of smoke coming from a residence.
According to the Fitchburg Fire Department, the first crews to arrive on scene reported smoke and heavy flames on the porch on the side of the building.
Multiple attack line hoses were deployed, a water supply was established, and roof access was gained by aerial as crews worked to knock down the fire.
Firefighters contained the fire to the porch area and quickly put out the fire before conducting overhaul to check for extension.
No injuries were reported, and no residents were displaced.
Fitchburg Fire Chief Patrick Haverty said the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
