FOXBOROUGH — On Thursday, May 14, 2026, at approximately 9:25 p.m., Officer Kurt Pollister of the Foxborough Police Department was traveling southbound on Route 1 when he observed a vehicle with Massachusetts plates stopped at a red light at Pine Street.

“When the light turned green and the vehicle began to continue down Route 1, I observed the driver’s side brake light to be defective,” Officer Pollister said. “I then initiated a motor vehicle stop on Route 1 in the area of Motorcycles of Manchester (MOMs). I approached the vehicle and asked the driver for his license and registration at which time he produced a Mass ID card along with the vehicle’s registration. The operator was identified as Jarrett Smith.”
According to police, Jarrett S. Smith, 35, is a resident of Boston, MA.
Officer Pollister ran Smith’s Massachusetts identification card through the mobile data terminal in his cruiser, which showed that his Massachusetts driving status was suspended.
Officer Pollister said he was assisted at the scene by Officer Joseph Godino.
“I then had Jarrett exit the vehicle and placed him into handcuffs (DLCT) [double locked and checked for tightness] and advised him that he was under arrest for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license,” Officer Pollister said. “When I conducted a search of Jarrett, I located a small twisted-off baggie containing white powder. Based on my training and experience, this is consistent with crack cocaine.”
Smith was then transported to the Foxboro Police Station for booking.
“I remained with the vehicle and conducted an administrative inventory per department policy,” Officer Pollister said. “During the inventory, I located a Crown Royal bag in the glove box that contained a large clear baggie that contained multiple smaller baggies with white powder and another large clear bag containing multiple smaller baggies with brown powder. Based on my training and experience, these bags were consistent with cocaine (white powder) and heroin (brown). Also located in close proximity was a large amount of cash which amounted to $1,626.00 and consisted mostly of $10 and $20 bills. These items were seized as evidence and returned to the Foxboro Police Station.”
Officer Pollister said the suspected heroin weighed 26.2 grams, while the suspected cocaine weighed 51.8 grams. Both substances were placed into evidence.
“Some of the powder seized was located inside of Jarrett’s hoodie during the booking process,” Officer Pollister said. “This was also placed into evidence.”
Jarrett S. Smith, 35, of Boston, was charged with the following:
- Cocaine, Trafficking in, 36 Grams or More, less than 100 Grams
- Heroin, Trafficking in, 36 Grams or More, less than 100 Grams
- Operating Motor Vehicle with License Suspended
- Motor Vehicle Lights Violation
Smith was arraigned in Wrentham District Court on May 15, 2026. Following his arraignment, Smith was held pending a dangerousness hearing after Assistant Chief Probation Officer Kevin Bucken filed a notice of an alleged violation of Smith’s pretrial conditions of release. During the dangerousness hearing on May 19, 2026, Smith was found dangerous and ordered held without bail until Sept. 15, 2026.
Smith’s next court date is a pretrial conference hearing scheduled for July 21, 2026.
