Three severely injured in stabbing at Somerset hotel

SOMERSET — Three people suffered serious stab wounds inside a hotel room in Somerset Saturday evening.

According to Somerset Police Chief William Tedford, police responded to a medical call at the Riverview Inn & Suites on Wilbur Avenue on Aug. 1, 2026.

When officers arrived on scene, they entered a room and found three severely injured people suffering from what appeared to be serious stab wounds. Police secured the room before paramedics from the Somerset Fire Department rendered aid to the injured parties.

Ambulance crews from Somerset and Swansea transported the three patients to area trauma hospitals.

Somerset police detectives responded to investigate the incident and process the room as a crime scene.

Chief Tedford said the incident was isolated to one hotel room and that authorities had no reason to believe the general public was in danger.
