Three men arrested after one brandishes two butcher knives during confrontation between cousins in Clinton

CLINTON — On Saturday, July 25, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Clinton Police Officer Kristopher Vazquez was dispatched to a residence on Flagg Street following a report that multiple male parties had brandished knives and threatened individuals at the residence.

“There was also a report of a potential firearm being involved,” Officer Vazquez said. Later adding, “While enroute, dispatch reported that the suspects fled the scene in a white Honda Civic and a white Honda CR-V.”

Officer Vazquez said that he and Officer Adam Prentiss arrived on scene within minutes of being dispatched.

When the officers arrived on scene in front of the Flagg Street residence, they made contact with the reporting party as well as three males named Angel, Yosmal, and Luis.

Angel told police that while he was working on a dirt bike with Yosmal and Luis, Victor Mora, 19, and Erinson Martinez, 23, showed up at the residence and “antagonized” them with kitchen knives.

“Angel mispronounced Erinson’s name by stating ‘Eddison,’” Officer Vazquez said. “Angel reported that there is a lengthy history of conflict between Luis, Victor, and Erinson.”

Meanwhile, the reporting party, a 58-year-old woman, told police that she saw one of the men holding two large kitchen knives, one in each hand.

“She described the knives as ‘the biggest you can get,’” Officer Vazquez said. “She added that the armed male was swinging the knives around like he was ready to stab somebody.”

Officer Vazquez then asked those on scene if any of them saw a firearm.

“Angel replied, ‘No, but they did claim to have one,’” Officer Vazquez said. “[The reporting party] added that the suspects opened the trunk and placed the knives in the spare tire compartment prior to leaving the scene.”

The suspects then reportedly fled in two vehicles, traveling on Flagg Street before turning left onto Greeley Street toward Brook Street.

Officer Vazquez said he knew the suspects, Victor and Erinson, from their jobs at two local convenience stores: Sam’s Quick Stop on Sterling Street and Stop & Save on Brook Street.

“Upon pulling up Erinson’s license photo, the parties on scene automatically recognized it to be one of the involved male parties who fled the scene,” Officer Vazquez said. “It was later realized by officers that Erinson, Victor, and Luis are all cousins.”

Officers Vazquez and Prentiss then went to Stop & Save to see if Erinson and Victor were there.

Neither man was there, so the officers went to Sam’s Quick Stop, where they located Erinson’s unoccupied white 2015 Honda Accord running in the parking lot.

“The Accord bore Massachusetts Registration [# redacted], and the registration status was suspended,” Officer Vazquez said. “Upon entering the store, Erinson was located standing behind the cash register. Erinson compliantly came around the counter upon my request, and he was handcuffed (DL) [double locked] and detained by me for officer safety purposes while I conducted the investigation.”

While Officer Vazquez was handcuffing Erinson, he said that Erinson’s supervisor asked him, “Did you show up at [name redacted’s] house?”

Officer Vazquez said the person identified by Erinson’s supervisor lived at the Flagg Street residence where the incident allegedly occurred that evening and had a history of conflicts with Victor. The resident was not among the four people who spoke with police when they initially arrived on scene.

“Erinson replied to [his supervisor], ‘I didn’t know that was his house,’” Officer Vazquez said. “Erinson continued to state, ‘When we pulled up, they had an axe.’”

Officer Vazquez said he then escorted Erinson to the rear of his cruiser where he read him his Miranda rights from a card he carries on his person.

“After placing Erinson in my cruiser, Officer Prentiss noticed a knife in plain view on the rear passenger side seat of the Accord,” Officer Vazquez said. He added that the knife was a 12-inch Kitchen Aid butcher knife with a silver blade and blue handle.

“The knife was secured in my cruiser by me,” Officer Vazquez said. Adding, “Upon speaking to Erinson in my cruiser, he reported to me that his cousin Andherson was with him when the altercation took place. Erinson advised that Andherson was inside of Sam’s Quick Stop.”

Officer Vazquez said he then reentered the store and asked for Andherson.

“I was answered by a male party wearing a chain with a pendant that said ‘Andherson’ around his neck,” Officer Vazquez said.

Officer Vazquez said the man identified himself as 27-year-old Andherson S. Monegro with his Dominican ID card.

“Through an on-call translator, Andherson reported to me that Erinson drove the Accord to [# redacted] Flagg Street,” Officer Vazquez said. Officer Vazquez added that Andherson said he was in the front passenger seat while Victor was in the rear seat of the Accord.

“Andherson added that when they pulled up to the residence, a male party with an axe was there and stated, ‘I want to kill you,’” Officer Vazquez said. “Afterwards, Andherson stated that all parties got into their cars and left the scene. Andherson denies knowing the identity of the male party who was in the CR-V.”

Officer Vazquez said that after discussing the facts of the case with Sergeant Edward Jeffrey, Andherson was subsequently placed under arrest, handcuffed by Officer Prentiss, and then placed into the rear of Officer Prentiss’ cruiser.

“Both parties [i.e., Erinson and Andherson] were transported to the Clinton Police Station where they were booked and afforded all applicable rights including Miranda,” Officer Vazquez said, adding that Officer Prentiss stayed on scene with the Honda Accord until Guaranty Auto towed it to the impound bay at the Clinton Police Department.

Officer Vazquez said Victor later arrived at the Clinton Police Department to speak with police.

“Detective Geraldo Guerra and I conducted an interview of Victor in the unlocked victim/witness room located in the lobby of the station,” Officer Vazquez explained. “Victor was advised that the conversation was voluntary and that he could leave whenever he wanted.”

Officer Vazquez said Victor was read his Miranda rights by Detective Guerra before he was asked any questions.

“Victor reported that Luis had been harassing him, Erinson, and multiple members of their families virtually by sending threatening messages,” Officer Vazquez said. “Victor stated that Erinson and Andherson rode together in the Accord, while he rode as a front seat passenger in his friend Jose’s CR-V to Flagg Street.”

Victor said that Erinson was on the phone with Luis and that Luis was provoking Erinson by inviting him to Flagg Street to fight.

“Upon arrival, Victor stated that one of the males had a machete, however, he could not identify which one,” Officer Vazquez said. “Upon seeing the machete, Victor admitted to grabbing two knives from the CR-V and brandishing them.”

Officer Vazquez said Victor later stated that he had been riding in the rear seat of the Accord and retrieved the knives from the vehicle after they arrived.

Officer Vazquez said that when he interviewed Erinson with Detective Guerra in the booking room, Erinson gave a similar story to Victor, stating that Luis had been instigating him by threatening him and several of his family members.

“Upon arriving on Flagg Street to fight Luis, Erinson reported that one of the males, whom he did not know, had an axe,” Officer Vazquez said. “Victor then suddenly produced two large kitchen knives with blue handles, and an argument ensued. Victor was subsequently arrested, booked, and afforded all applicable rights including Miranda again.”

On July 26, 2026, Officer Vazquez said Erinson gave him consent over the phone to search the Accord.

Officer Vazquez said that during the inventory search of the vehicle, police located a wallet containing various cards, including Erinson’s license, cash, as well as loose cash found throughout the vehicle. Officer Vazquez said the items were logged and secured in a safe location at the Clinton Police Department until Erinson could retrieve them.

Officer Vazquez added that due to the registration of the Accord being suspended, the vehicle was to be subsequently towed by Guaranty Auto to the Clinton Police Department.

“After securing the wallet, its contents, and the loose cash, Erinson notified me by phone that he was able to reactivate his vehicle’s registration, which I confirmed through the RMV database,” Officer Vazquez said. “Erinson picked up the vehicle from the Clinton Police Station that same evening. Erinson was advised that the current on-duty officers did not have access to the secure location where his wallet and cash were stored. He was advised to return on Monday, July 27, 2026, so that an officer with access could turn those items over to him.”
