FALMOUTH — On Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, at approximately 5:49 p.m., the Falmouth Police Department and Falmouth Fire and Rescue Department responded to Jenkins Pond following a report of a drowning.
According to the Falmouth Police Department, when first responders arrived on scene, they learned that two people had been paddleboarding when one of them fell into the water.
Falmouth fire and rescue personnel deployed a boat, pulled the victim from the water and immediately began lifesaving measures. The victim, an 18-year-old man from Connecticut, was transported to Falmouth Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Falmouth Marine and Environmental Services and the Massachusetts State Environmental Police also responded to the scene to assist.
Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office responded and took jurisdiction over the investigation, the Falmouth Police Department said, adding that all further inquiries should be directed to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office.
