Dudley man arrested for smashing in glass door of ex-girlfriend’s apartment building

DUDLEY โ€“ On Friday, August 28, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Dudley Police Officer Daniel Brunelle responded to the multifamily residence located at 48 Chase Avenue after dispatch received a 911 text message reporting that the ex-boyfriend of a resident had broken the glass on the front door of the building.

Officer John Glowacki also responded to the scene.

โ€œUpon arrival, we observed a white Jeep with a male party standing outside the vehicle,โ€ Officer Brunelle said. โ€œThe male party was identified as Jadbiel Rivera.โ€

According to police, Jadbiel B. Rivera, 29, is a resident of Dudley, MA.

โ€œJadbiel was observed to be bleeding from his right upper arm and was ordered to place his hands on the vehicle,โ€ Officer Brunelle said. โ€œI then placed Jadbiel under arrest on an outstanding warrant.โ€

Officer Brunelle handcuffed Rivera and placed him in the rear of a cruiser.

โ€œI asked Jadbiel how he had cut his arm, but he did not answer,โ€ Officer Brunelle said. โ€œIt was later discovered that Jadbiel had smashed the glass window on the front door of 48 Chase Avenue.โ€

When Officer Brunelle asked Rivera if he had smashed the glass on the front door of the building, he replied, โ€œI guess I did.โ€

Officer Brunelle then informed Rivera that he was being charged with destruction of property.

โ€œI advised Officer Glowacki to photograph the damage to the front door,โ€ Officer Brunelle added.

Rivera was then transported to the Dudley Police Department for booking.

โ€œUpon arrival, Jadbiel was evaluated by EMS for the injury to his right upper arm,โ€ Officer Brunelle said. โ€œEMS bandaged the wound, and Jadbiel declined any further medical services.โ€

Riveraโ€™s bail was set at $500 cash.

โ€œJadbiel was also served with his Abuse Prevention Order, which he stated he understood,โ€ Officer Brunelle said. โ€œJadbiel was unable to post bail and was transported to the Worcester House of Correction for holding without incident.โ€

Jadbiel B. Rivera, 29, of Dudley, was charged with the following:

  • Malicious Destruction of Property, -$1200
  • Warrant Arrest

Rivera was arraigned in Dudley District Court on Aug. 31, 2026. Following his arraignment, Rivera was released on personal recognizance under the condition that he stay away from and not contact the victim.

Riveraโ€™s next court date is a pretrial hearing scheduled for Oct. 26, 2026.
