RAYNHAM — On Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, at approximately 6:15 a.m., Raynham police and firefighters responded to 430 New State Highway (Route 44), following a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.
According to Raynham Police Chief David LaPlante and Fire Chief Bryan LaCivita, when emergency crews arrived on scene, they found an 18-year-old man from Brockton who had been struck by a vehicle. Raynham firefighters provided medical care at the scene before transporting him to Boston Medical Center – South in Brockton, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a Honda CR-V driven by a 37-year-old Taunton man was traveling west on Route 44 when it struck the pedestrian as he was crossing the street.
The driver remained at the scene following the crash. Brewster Ambulance transported the driver and a passenger to Morton Hospital in Taunton for evaluation.
The crash remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the Raynham Police Department, including its Detective Division.
